Hi! We’re Laura
& Carla

we’re the sister duo behind ulivit (pronounced
you-live-it) and we’re passionate about healthy foods being dirty good!

Crafted in beautiful British Columbia, our roots run deep in sunny Saskatchewan’s endless farm fields and land of the living skies. Growing up, we saw firsthand that food doesn’t magically appear at the grocery store—it grows in our backyard, thanks to generations of farmers in our family and community. Fast forward to adulting, and Laura’s healthcare work showed us how much what we eat, impacts our health. That’s when we dug into our homegrown pulse peas - with the power to literally feed the world and save the planet. And hey, with Saskatchewan being the world’s largest grower, and pioneers of sustainable agriculture, we really know our peas, and trust us, they taste amazing! Plus, they nourish the dirt, which in turn nourishes us, with nutrient-rich food for healthier lives and a healthier planet. So dig in—because our healthy food is dirty good.

Meet the world’s most incredible food…pulses

Pulses, also known as legumes, are the dry, edible seeds of
plants in the legume family. You’ll know these superfoods as dry beans, peas,
lentils and chickpeas.

  • Rich in protein, fibre, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Natural Prebiotic - source of prebiotic fiber – the preferred food of our gut bacteria – which contributes to good gut health.
  • Naturally gluten free, non-GMO, cholesterol free, allergen friendly, low in fat and have a low glycemic index.
  • Pulses can help reduce your risk of diabetes, cholesterol, heart disease, obesity and even some cancers.
  • Fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gases - pulses use 1/2 the total fossil fuel of other field crops because they create their own nitrogen.
  • Very low water footprint. By comparison, the water footprints to produce a kilogram of beef, pork, chicken and soybeans are 43, 18, 11 and 5 times higher.
  • One of the most environmentally-friendly & sustainable sources of protein in the world, which is why the United Nations declared World Pulses Day!
  • We need to double food production to feed 10 billion people by 2050. Pulses’ low carbon footprint, water and soil efficiency make them the sustainable food of the future.

What we stand for is what we stand on!

We know eating better is our path to a healthier future, and
we’re committed to making sustainable decisions that respect the earth.
